Julianna Pena is an American mixed martial artist who currently competes in the Ultimate Fighting Championship. She is the first woman who won The Ultimate Fighter. Her younger sister Grace Pena reporter and morning/noon meteorologist.

 

Early Life

Julianna Pena was born on August 19, 1989. He graduated from Mt. Spokane High School in 2007. She then attended Spokane Community College for her higher studies.

Professional Career

Younger sister of Grace Pena (former KREM 2 reporter and morning/noon meteorologist) made her professional MMA debut in May 2009.

After winning the four consecutive fights she lost her fight in April 2012 to Sarah Moras who had also been titled as The Ultimate Fighter 18 cast member in a 140-pound catchweight bout, which took place just two months and one week after she was knocked unconscious and suffered a broken nose in an accident with a drunk driver while walking in downtown Spokane.

She again suffered unanimous defeat on a professional competition in a fight in the flyweight division, a move down from the bantamweight division ten month later. She won The Ultimate Fighter 18 Championship defeating Jessica Rakoczy on the finale on November 30, 2013, via TKO in the final second of the first round. In the same tournament, she faced veteran and top-ten ranked Shayna Baszler the first tournament fight. 

Pena's right knee injury while grappling in arts training/art classes made her pull out of the bout where she was expected to face Jessica Andrade at UFC 171 on March 15, 2014. Pena's severe injury made her stay away of the ring for rest of 2014. Doctors have assured recovery of the Pena's injury to the full strength after some surgical procedure and rehabilitation.

Pena returned to the ring to face Milana Dudieva on April 4, 2015, after a year break due to injury. She won the fight via TKO in the first round at UFC Night 63 which made her earn her first Performance of the Night bonus award.
