Early Life of Jon Rahm

Jon Rahm Rodriguez was born on 10 November 1994, in Barrika, Basque Country, Spain to parents Edorta Rahm and Angela Rodriguez. He attended the Arizona State University where he played golf for the Arizona State Sun Devils. During his collegiate career, he won 11 college tournaments, which is the second-most wins in the school history only coming behind Phil Mickelson's 16 collegiate wins.

Rahm is the only player to win Ben Hogan Award more than two times. During his amateur years, he finished fifth in the 2015 Phoenix Open. In April of 2015, he became the 28th player to be No. 1 ranked golfer in the World Amateur Golf Ranking. He has held the rank for 60 weeks, 25 consecutive weeks on his first stint, and an additional 35 second time around. He was the low amateur at the 2016 U.S. Open, finishing his amateur career in a tie for 23rd place.

Professional Life of Jon Rahm

Following the end of the 2016 U.S. Open, John Rahm turned professional. His first event as a pro was at the Quickens Loans National where he tied for third place. He was able to earn an entry spot into The Open with his finish at the Quicken Loans Nationa. As a non-member to earn a PGA Tour card for the year 2017 as well.

Rahm won his maiden PGA Tour title in late January 2017 at the Farmers Insurance Open. With his win, he was able to climb to the 46th spot in the official Golf Ranking from his initial 137th spot as well as gain entry into the Masters' Tournament, The players' Championship, the PGA Championship, and World Golf Championships events. In his first World Golf Championships, he made a T3 finish coming two strokes behind the winner Dustin Johnson.

Jon Rahm's second WGC event was the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play where he once again fell behind Dustin Johnson. He became the runner-up in the event and climbed to the #14 spot in the world ranking. With a 27th place finish in his first Masters, 4th place in the Wells Fargo Championship, and joint runner-up in the Dean & DeLuca Invitational, he was able to enter the top-10 of the World Rankings. He won his first European Tour Victory winning the Dubai Duty-Free Irish Open.

By the end of the 2017 season, Jon Rahm had placed sixth in the FedEx Cup Rankings, had top-10 finishes in all four of the FedEx Cup Playoff events, and finished fifth in the final standings. He earned the European Tour Rookie of the Year award for winning the DP World Tour Championship.

Rahm's streak of coming behind Dustin Johnson continued onto the 2018 season. At the Sentry Tournament of Champions in Kapalua, Hawaii, he once again finished runner-up behind Johnson. As the year continued, he was able to grab a second career PGA Tour victory in the CareerBuilder Challenge swinging defeat to Andrew Landry at the sudden death playoff. With the win, he was able to reach his career-high 2nd rank in the world rankings height.

Rahm has had four wins in just 38 professional starts, a ratio which is only bested by Tiger Woods in the past 30 years.
