UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones recently announced that he is done with the light heavyweight championship. Bones made a series of tweets to confirm that he has vacated the title. He had been in dispute with the UFC over his paycheck.
Jones recently had a meeting with Dana White on Monday and came up with the decision to give up his title. He has no intention to retire yet and could move up to heavyweight division if the UFC comes up with new contract negotiation.
Jones wrote on Twitter:
“Just got off the phone with @ufc, today I confirm that I’m vacating the light heavyweight championship. It’s officially up for grabs. It’s been an amazing journey, sincere thank you to all my competition, UFC and most importantly you fans.”

Jones last fought at UFC 247 against Dominick Reyes and earned a controversial win to defend his title. He has not lost a bout since 2011 except a no-contest decision against Daniel Cormier in 2017 after testing positive for turinabol.
He also expressed his desire to move up to the heavyweight division and said:
"The last I spoke with UFC about my salary there was no negotiating. If that ever changes, I'd love to come back and compete again as a heavyweight. Until then, I'll be enjoying UFC as a fan and doing my best to take care of my family and community."

He made another tweet shortly after and revealed that he also had spoken to UFC boos about his next bout at the heavyweight division. He said:
"Just had a really positive conversation with @Ufc. Sounds like there will be negotiations for my next fight at heavyweight. All good news, the weight gaining process begins."

While Jones will be preparing for the Heavyweight debut, Dominick Reyes and Jan Blachowicz will compete for the vacant light heavyweight title at UFC 253 next month.
