Gaudreau went to Gloucester Catholic High School in Gloucester City, New Jersey across the Delaware River from Philadelphia. He then completed his graduation from Dubuque Senior High School in Dubuque, Iowa.

Johnny Gaudreau Playing Career

Gaudreau started his career playing with the 2010-11 season with the Dubuque Fighting Saints in the United States Hockey League (USHL), where he played in the 2011 USHL All-Star Game and led his team to win the Clark Cup as the USHL champions.

Gaudreau remarkable performance rewarded him for being selected to the USHL All-Rookie Team and to the All-USHL Second team. He was selected by the Flames in the fourth round, 104th overall, of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.

Upon attending the Calgary Flames training camp, Gaudreau began his career in the NCAA with the Division I Boston College Eagles team in the Hockey East Conference. While playing with Boston College Eagles, he performed outstandingly well in his freshman, sophomore, and junior seasons.

Gaudreau was the winner of the 2014 Hobey Baker Award as the best player in the NCAA. He made his NHL debut against the Vancouver Canucks of the 2013-14 seasons.
