Joel Ivo Veltman better known as Joel Veltman is a Dutch renowned football player who is currently signed to Ajax as a center back.

Twenty-five years Footballer Veltman is also a member of Netherlands national football team who has represented his nation at both senior and junior level.

Early life and Career

A native of Velsen, Netherland, Joel Veltman was born on 15th of January 1992, to Greet Veltman and Paul Veltman. His birth sign is Capricorn. Regarding his nationality, Veltman is Dutch and he belongs to white ethnicity.

He started his football career with his hometown football club VV Ijmuiden at the very early age. In 2001, he joined Ajax and stayed 12 years in the youth team. He helped his side to secure the second position in Inter Milan in the NextGen Series as well as to win the Nike Eredivisie League title.

Club Career

Ajax

On 19th August 2012, Joel Veltman made his professional debut for the Ajax first team in an away match against NEC. Following a successful starting season, he was signed for another 4 years with Ajax, binding him to the club until the Summer of 2017.

On 5th August 2013, Veltman made his appearance in the Dutch Eerste Divisie debut of the newly promoted reserves team Jong Ajax. He played in the reserve team till 2016, appearing in total 6 matches and scored 1 goal.

After playing six professional games for the reserve team he further continues with the Ajax first team. So far, he has made a total of 126 appearances and still plays for the club.

International Career

Junior

On 10th February 2009, Joel Veltman made his debut with Dutch U-17 national team in the 2009 edition of the "La Manga Cup" in a 0-4 defeat against Czech Republic U-17. Similarly, he was also the part of the U-17 squad that played in the “2009 UEFA European U-17 Football Championship” against England U17 in a 1-1 draw.

On 2nd September 2010, Veltman made his Netherlands U-19 debut in a friendly match against Germany in a 2-2 draw. His first international goal came on 9th February 2011, in a friendly match against France U-19 in a 1-1 draw.

On 23rd May 2012, he made his Netherlands U-21 national team debut at 2012 Toulon Tournament in France.

Senior

On 19th November 2013, Veltman made his international debut for his nation in a match against Colombia in the 0-0 draw at the Amsterdam Arena. His first international goal came on 4th June 2017, in a friendly match against Ivory Coast at De Kuip, Rotterdam, Netherlands. He has won 19 caps for his national side scoring 2 goals.

He is a good friend of his international football team mates Davy Propper, Maarten Stekelenburg, and Jeroen Zoet.

Personal life

Joel Veltman is a married man. He tied the wedding knot with his girlfriend Naomi Hagenstein in May 2016. The couple first met through a mutual friend and started dating. Veltman first proposed her for marriage in mid-2015 while they both were on a vacation in Curaçao.

 Naomi is a graduate with Law degree. She is now a businessperson and owns a real webshop named Shop for Less.
