NCAA Suspension

While playing for The Memphis Tigers men's basketball team, the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) ruled James Wiseman ineligible. Wiseman's lawyer, Leslie Ballin, discloed that the NCAA deemed that Hardaway, a Memphis alumnus, had acted as a booster.

However, he was granted a temporary restraining order against the NCAA's ruling, allowing him to keep playing by the Shelby County judge. In mid-November, NCAA's final ruling was declared an 11 game suspension after withdrawing an injunction against the NCAA's ruling. In addition to the suspension, they also ruled Wiseman's family must donate $11,500 to charity.
