James Ennis III is a professional basketball player who plays the position of small forward. He is currently signed to the Houston Rockets of the National Basketball Association. He was signed by the Atlanta Hawks in the 2013 NBA Draft.

Early Life of James Ennis III

James Alfred Ennis III was born on July 1, 1990, in Ventura, California. He is the son of James Ennis and Denise Taylor. His family moved around a lot during his younger days but they later settled down at Westview Village where Ennis joined and completed his high school education from Ventura High School.

Ennis transferred from one college to next after graduating high school. He first joined Oxnard College where he played for the Oxnard basketball team as a freshman and later returned to his home to join Ventura College and continued to play for their college team.

In his junior season, he joined the Long Beach State 49ers and completed his college education.

Professional Life of James Ennis III

James Ennis III was drafted by the Atlanta Hawks in the 2013 NBA Draft with the 50th overall picks. His rights were traded to the Miami Heat on draft night and he joined the Heat for the 2013 NBA Summer League. The team wanted him to join their NBA Development League affiliate Sioux Falls Skyforce but due to salary cap restriction, he decided to leave the offer and went overseas to support his family's financial needs.

Ennis joined the Perth Wildcats of the NBL on August 10, 2013. He soon grew to be the team's important member along with import Jermaine Beal. The two helped the Wildcats to the season championship. He played in all 33 games of the season and recorded an average stats of 21.2 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 2.1 assists. After the end of the season, he joined Piratas de Quebradillas of BSN. He played in 12 games for the club and returned to the United States in June to prepare for NBA.

Miami Heats were impressed by James Ennis performance in the 2014 NBA Summer League and signed him to a multi-year deal on July 15, 2014. He made his NBA debut with the Heats on October 29, 2014. In his rookie NBA season, he played in 62 of the Heat's 82 games and averaged 5.0 points and 2.8 rebounds in 17.0 minutes per game. He was retained by the Heats for the 2015-16 season.

Ennis was traded to the Memphis Grizzlies on November 10, 2015, along with Mario Chalmers in exchange for Jarnell Stokes and Beno Udrih. He was unable to get play time in the court due to a strong roster which included Jeff Green, Matt Barnes, Tony Allen, JaMychal Green and Vince Carter. He spent most of his season in the NBA Development League with the Iowa Energy in defense.

The New Orleans Pelicans also got James Ennis to play for their team on March 30, 2016, for the rest of the season. After the end of the season, he returned to Memphis Grizzlies and signed a two-year $6 million contract. This time around, he got to see a lot more time in court playing in 64 games. He was traded to the Detroit Pistons on February 8, 2018, in exchange for Brice Johnson and a 2022 second-round draft pick.

James Ennis II was acquired by the Houston Rockets on July 13, 2018, with a two-year, $3.4 million contract adding to the rosters of players like James Harden, P. J. Tucker, and Nene.

There is no record of James Ennis having married but he is a father to a daughter nevertheless. In the past, he was in a relationship with a girl named Nicole Parker.

At the time it remains a mystery as to who his wife and the mother of his daughter is. But, seeing as he has not been seen with anyone new, it could be that Nicole and James are still together and have a child together as well.
