Jameer Nelson is one of the popular basketball players, who currently play for the Denver Nuggets. He started his professional career with the Orlando Magic in 2004. Previously, he also played college basketball for the Saint Joseph men’s basketball team, from 2000 to 2004.

Early Life

Nelson was born on Feb 9, 1982, in Chester, Pennsylvania, United States. He is of American nationality and is of Afro-American descent. He is the son of Linda Nelson and Floyd Nelson. He has two brothers named Pete and Jabre Nelson.

Nelson attended Chester High School in Chester, Pennsylvania, where he played basketball for his school team.

College Career

Nelson started his college basketball career at St. Joseph University in 2000-01 seasons. He showed great shooting, running, and passing ability in his freshman season. In his junior season, he averaged 19.7 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 4.7 assists per game.

Because of Nelson, remarkable accomplishments as a senior, Nelson won numerous awards including 2004 Wooden Award, the 2004 Naismith Award, the 2004 Bob Cousy Award and many others.

Professional Career

Nelson turned professional when Orlando Magic picks him in the 2004 NBA draft, but soon he was traded to Orlando Magic. Magic provided the perfect platform to the Nelson. It shaped his career perfectly. He played with Orlando Magic, from 2004 to 2014.

He also helps Orlando to reach finals in the NBA 2009, where Los Angeles Lakers defeated them.

On July 24, 2014, Nelson agreed on a two-year contract, worth of $5.6 million with the Dallas Mavericks. He made his appearance in 23 games and averaged 7.3 points and 4.1 assists per game.

Upon playing with Mavericks, he played with Boston Celtics, from 2014 to 2015. On January 13, 2015, Denver Nuggets in exchange for Nate Robinson picked Nelson. On 26 June 2015, he opted for the contract and became a free agent.

Nelson again joined Nuggets on 7 August 2015, and since he has been playing for them.

Jameer Nelson married his high school sweetheart Imani Tillery upon dating for several years. They celebrated their marriage at the Orlando Ritz Carlton on July 5, 2008.
