Jake Peavy is an American former professional baseball pitcher. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the San Diego Padres (2002–2009), Chicago White Sox (2009–2013), Boston Red Sox (2013–2014), and San Francisco Giants (2014–2016) as a right-handed. On 5th May 2019, he officially retired.

Peavy was drafted by the San Diego Padres in the 15th round (472nd overall) of the 1999 Major League Baseball out of high school (St. Paul’s Episcopal School). He was also named the high school player of the year in the state of Alabama. He played professionally throughout his professional career while playing with Padres; he manages to win the 2007 NL Cy Young Award after recording the Pitching Triple Crown that year.

He was traded from the White Sox to the Red Sox in 2013 and helped them to a World Series title later that season. Following after a year, he was traded to San Francisco Giants and also helped his team to win a World Series title. He was the first starting pitcher in MLB history who manages to win two consecutive World Series with two different teams in two different leagues. 

During the 2017 season, Peavy did not pitch in MLB or the minor leagues. In May 2018, he stated his interest in a comeback.
