Jack Marshman was born on December 19, 1989, in Abertillery, Wales. He was introduced to mixed martial arts coach, Richard shore at the age of 15 and since then began started training in MMA. He joined the army at the age of 17 and served as a Lance Corporal with the 3rd Battalion Parachute Regiment for 10 years.
Jack Marshman began competing in the BAMMA and Cage Warriors Fighting Championship in 2011. He became the Middleweight Cage Warriors Fighting Champion. He amassed a record of 20-5 prior to being signed by UFC. He was signed by UFC becoming the first Welsh to be signed by the organization.
On November 19, 2016, at UFC Fight Night: Mousasi vs. Hall, Marshman made his UFC debut facing Magnus Cedenblad. He ended up winning his debut match via a TKO in the second round of the fight.

His second UFC fight came on February 19, 2017, against Thiago Santos at UFC Fight Night: Lewis vs. Browne. Although he remained aggressive in the first round of the show, he fell to the floor in the second round being hit by Santos' spinning wheel kick. He lost the fight via a TKO.
On July 16, 2017, Jack Marshman and Ryan Janes faced each other at UFC Fight Night: Nelson vs. Ponzinibbio. Marshman won the fight with a unanimous decision from the judges. Marshman and Antonio Carlos Junior were matched on October 28, 2017, at UFC Fight Night 119. Antonio won the fight via submission.

For his next fight, Marshman was expected to face Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos on March 17, 2018, at UFC Fight Night 127. However, citing a knee injury, Zaleski was announced to have been pulled from the event on February 19, 2018.
He was defeated by Karl Roberson on November 3, 2018, at UFC 230.
On March 16, 2019, he faced John Phillips at UFC Fight Night: Till vs. Masvidal. Marshman won the bout in round three via Decision (split).
