American professional footballer Josh Gordon, born as Joshua Caleb Gordon in the family of Haitian immigrants, has been playing for Cleveland Browns of the National Football League (NFL) since July 16, 2012, when he signed a $5.3 million contract for four years.

A 2012 NFL Supplemental Draft, 26-year-old Gordon has as much been praised for his aggressive tactics as has been criticized for substance abuse, which has forced him out of many important games of the league and threatened to derail his career. 

The 6.3 feet player, who weighs a total of 225 pounds, was selected by the Browns after he led all the rookies to become the first team All-Pro selection. Since then, Gordon has built an impressive statics with a record of 50 catches, 805 yards, and five touchdowns.

Josh Gordon's Annual Salary, Bonuses, and Net worth

The 26-year-old American professional football player's 2012 contract with the Browns included a $2,324,836 signing bonus along with $3,727,638 in guarantees and an average annual salary of $1,335,412.

Given his history of drug abuse and a litany of bans that have come with it, Josh has hardly received his guaranteed salary amount. His 2012 yearly salary was $390,000. He earned  $632,802 as an annual salary in  2013. 2015 saw Josh without any salary, while in both 2016 and 2017, he has made slightly more than a million dollars.

Similarly, he has not been able to fully capitalize on his bonuses as well. The only time  Josh Gordon ever earned any workout bonus in his career was in  2014-15 when the amount came to around $50,000, far lesser than the $250,000 that some of the sport's biggest names make.

But despite living under the cloud of drug abuse and suspensions, Josh does have an expensive taste. He reportedly loves cars and is said to own a Porsche Panamera GT sports car, valued at  $110,000. Gordon's total net worth is estimated to be around $4 million. As of 2017, he carries a dead cap value of $377,084.

Josh Gordon's Career and Drug Abuse  

The New York Giants was the team against whom Gordon achieved his first career touchdown In the 2012 NFL season. During the match, he ended up with two catches for 82 yards and two touchdowns. On the other hand, it was against Oakland Raiders that Gordon played his first 100-yard game, finishing with six catches for 116 yards and one touchdown.

But despite increasing popularity, Gordon's career has been marred by drug abuse.  On June 7, 2013, NFL suspended Gordon from the first two games of the 2013 season for violating its drug abuse policy. However, after coming back from the suspension, he created a world record in back-to-back games, achieving a maximum of 237 receiving yards in the twelfth week and 261 receiving yards in the thirteenth week. 

On December 26, 2013, he was named as the Cleveland Chapter PFWA Player of the 2013 season. On the very next day, on December 27, 2013, Gordon was voted to his first Pro Bowl selection. Gordon finished his 2013 season as the league leader and was named a member of first-team All-Pro.

But all this success did not put Gordon away from substance abuse.The wide receiver was arrested in Raleigh, North California, on July 5, 2014, while driving in impaired condition due to which on August 27, 2014, NFL suspended Gordon for the entire season for violating NFL’s substance-abuse policy. But after realizing his importance in the team, NFL deducted his suspension span to 10 games on September 19, 2014. And later, on November 17, 2014, he was officially reinstated.

On January 2015, Gordon had to face a year-long suspension due to violating the league's narcotics abuse policy. Gordon’s application for reinstatement in the NFL was denied on January 20, 2016, when it was reported that he had again failed the drug test. However, on January 20, 2016, Gordon was reinstated by the NFL and was allowed to participate in the training. 

On September 29, 2016, Gordon left Cleveland Browns and joined a rehabilitation program. On March 1, 2017, Gordon again applied to the league for reinstatement but was denied on May 11, 2017. But on November 1, Gordon was finally reinstated, on a conditional basis, meaning that he would be eligible to return in Week 13.
