Holly Holm was born as Holly Rene Holm-Kirkpatrick, on 17 October 1981 in Albuquerque, New Mexico of United States. Holm is the youngest of the three children born to Roger and Tammy. Also known as preacher's daughter she grew up in Bosque Farms.
She graduated from Manzano High School in 2000 and studied for a year at the University of New Mexico. Talking about her nationality, she is an American citizen and is of white ethnicity.

Holm's aerobics instructor, Mike Winkeljohn was the first one to see her potential in Kickboxing. Holm says that boxing came easier to her than she thought it would. She further added that when she first started, her punches seemed really clumsy, and gives all the credit to Mr. Winkeljohn for helping her with her technique. Mr. Winkeljohn was true to her vision.

A native of Albuquerque, her husband Jeff graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of New Mexico in 2002. He holds degrees in both Accounting and Finance. He is now the Vice President of Operations for AAA Roofing Co. owned by his father.
