Hamidou Diallo attended Josh Bowne in Flushing, New York where he played for his high school basketball team. Hamidou, in his high school career, held an average of 17.1 points and 6.6 rebounds as a junior. Later on, he joined Putnam Science Academy, Putnam, Connecticut, averaging 17.0 points and 4.0 rebounds.

Hamidou was among the top players in the recruiting class of Scout.com, Rivals.com, and ESPN in 2017. He was heavily recruited by six schools, Kentucky University, Arizona University, Indiana University, Kansas University, Syracuse University, and Connecticut University.

After completing high school, Diallo enrolled at the University of Kentucky and played for it. Diallo scored 18 points, 3 assists and 5 rebounds on 10 November 2017 to defeat Utah Valley and scored 16 points on November 12 and 3 assists in a 73-69 win over Vermont.

Hamidou Diallo Professional Career

 Hamidou was selected by the Brooklyn Nets with the 45th pick in the 2018 NBA draft on 21 June 2018. Afterward, his draft rights were traded to the Charlotte Hornets and then to the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The Oklahoma City of Thunder announced on 28 July 2018 that it had signed with Hamidou. He debuted in NBA on 16 October 2018 with a loss of 100–108 to the Golden State Warriors with four points, a rebound, an assist, and a steal.
