Frankie Edgar has agreed to a surprise call out from Conor McGregor and revealed that he would fight in any weight class. ESPN reported that Conor showed interest in fighting Frankie in preparation for a rematch against arch-rival Khabib Nurmagomedov

Notorious' statement came as a respect for the former featherweight after Edgar revealed he wanted to be able to tell his grandkids he shared the octagon with McGregor.

“You know I'm down to fight @thenotoriousmma it should have happened a long time ago.

“I know I'm going down to Bantamweight but for you any weight class will do. Anytime any weight class you know I'm game.”

The Irishman also said, that the respect shown by Frankie, also made him text Dana White to set up the bout.

“Frankie Edgar is also up there on the list because he has similarities to Khabib.

“He runs on the back foot and shoots on the single leg. I want this sort of similar bouts. And also, Frankie has been very respectful. He’s always respectful. He said, ‘I want to tell my his grandkids I fought Conor McGregor’

“For me to hear that, ask Dana — now this is going back many months now — I messaged Dana straight away and said, ‘That’s the fight to make. Even though he lost to Max [Holloway] in a very close bout, I don’t care. Wins and losses don’t matter in this game. It’s the stories we are all on and the journeys we are all on.”
