Fernando Torres is a Spanish professional football player. He plays as a striker for one of the top clubs of the world Atletico Madrid. The 33 years old Spanish professional has played for clubs like Chelsea, Liverpool, and Milan previously.

 

Torres was also the part of the Spanish National Team that won Euro Cup in 2008 and 2012 and World Cup in 2010. He has an estimated net worth of $60 million in 2017.

Early Life of Fernando Torres

Fernando Torres was born as Fernando Jose Torres Sanz on March 20, 1984, in Fuenlabrada, Spain. His parents are Jose Torres and Flora Sanz Torres and his siblings are Isreal Torres; brother, and Maria Paz Torres; a sister.

As a child, he joined his first team, Parque 84 at age five. He used to play as a goalkeeper in his childhood days. He holds Spanish nationality.

Club Career

Torres began his career as a youth joining Atletico Madrid in 1995 and won his first major youth title in 1998 becoming Europe's best under-15 youth player. He signed his first professional contract with Atletico in 1999 at the age of 15. He made his professional debut on 27 May 2001, against Leganes and the debut goal of his career came on June 2, 2001, against Albacete. He played 214 games for the club scoring 82 goals and further signed with the English side Liverpool. He signed six years contract with Liverpool in 2007; the transfer fee was the highest in Liverpool's history at that time.

Torres made his professional debut for the club in a match against Aston Villa in a 2–1 win on 11 August 2007. His first goal for the club came on his debut in the premier league on 19 August 2007, in a 1-1 draw against Chelsea. He was named the Premier League Player of the Month for February 2008. His combination with Steven Gerrard resulted in beautiful playmaking and numbers of goals. At the end of the season, Torres agreed on a new contract with Liverpool, which he signed on 14 August extending his contract for a year. He played 102 games for the club scoring 65 goals.

He then switched to Chelsea on 31 January 2011, for a fee of $56 million signing a five-and-a-half-year contract which was the most expensive transfer of that time. He made his Chelsea debut on 6 February 2011 in a 1–0 home defeat against his former club Liverpool. He scored his first goal for the club against West Ham United in a 3–0 victory. He played 110 games for the club scoring 21 goals. He was further sent on a two-year loan to the Italian club Milan on 31 August 2014. His debut for the club came on 20 September 2014, in a 1–0 home defeat against Juventus. He played over 25 games for the club scoring 9 goals. He then moved to his former club Atletico Madrid on December 29, 2014, and still plays for the club. His current teammates are Antoine Griezmann, Jan Oblak, Diego Godin etc.

International Career

Fernando Torres has played for both junior and senior levels representing his national team in international fixtures. He made his professional debut for his national side on September 6, 2003, in a friendly against Portugal and scored his first international goal against Italy on April 28, 2004. He won the 2012 Euro Cup's golden boot. He has won over 110 caps for his national side scoring 33 goals.

Fernando Torres is a married man. He married his loving girlfriend Olalla Domínguez Liste after dating for eight long years. The couple tied their knot on 27 May 2009 in a private ceremony with just two witnesses at the local town hall in El Escorial, Madrid. 

The couple together has two children. Their daughter, Nora was born on July 8, 2009, at the Hospital La Rosaleda, in Santiago de Compostela, Galicia, and a son, Leo was born on December 6, 2010, at Liverpool Women's Hospital. The couple revealed that they were expecting their first child some months before their marriage.

The couple lives together in Madrid with their children.
