Erik Haula Early Life

Erik Haula was born on 23 March 1991, in Pori, Finland to parents Tomi Haula and Minna Haula. As per his nationality, he is Finnish and belongs to the white ethnic group. Further, his star sign is Aries.

Haula played with Shattuck-Saint Mary's in Faribault, Minnesota, in the 2008–09 hockey season. There he scored 24 goals and played 55 assists in 49 games for 79 points. Haula committed to Minnesota University in March 2009. He would only be the second player born outside North America to play for the Gophers after Austria's future Wild teammate Thomas Vanek.

However, before attending the University of Minnesota, Haula played with the Omaha Lancers for the 2009–10 season at the junior level in the U.S. Hockey League (USHL) while attending Daniel J. Gross Catholic High School.

Erik Haula Professional Career

On June 27, 2009, at the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, Haula was drafted by Minnesota Wild in the 7th round, 182nd overall.  The Minnesota Wild signed an entry-level contract with Haula on April 7, 2013.  Haula scored his first NHL career goal against the Dallas Stars on 18 January 2014. 

He centered the third line of Minnesota with Nino Niederreiter and Jason Pominville in the 2015 - 2016 season, quickly becoming the most effective line of Minnesota offensively and acting as a shutdown line against the best of the league.  

As a restricted free agent Haula was left exposed for the 2017 NHL Expansion Draft at the end of his fourth season with the Wild in 2016–17. After agreeing to a three-year, $ 8.25 million deal with the Vegas Golden Knights, on June 21, 2017,  Haula was Minnesota's required selection for the draft.
