Eric Bledsoe was born on 9 December 1989, to American parents Eric Bledsoe Sr. and Maureen Reddick in Birmingham, Alabama, United States. He attended Parker High School in Birmingham, Alabama. Talking about his nationality, he is an American.
Bledsoe was subsequently selected with the 18th overall pick in the 2010 NBA draft by the Oklahoma City Thunder but was later traded to the Los Angeles Clippers in 2010. He played only an average of 11 minutes per game, with only one start, and his stats dropped in his second season with the club.
