Enrique Barzola is a Peruvian mixed martial artist who fights in Featherweight division in the Ultimate Fighting Championships (UFC). He is the winner of the lightweight title at UFC “The Ultimate Fighter: Latin America 2.
Barzola is famous by the nickname El Fuerte.
Enrique Barzola was born on April 28, 1989, in Lima, Peru as Enrique Johnatan Barzola Acosta. He holds a Peruvian nationality.
He is a former graphic designer and studied architecture but didn't complete and turned to develop an interest towards next champion in the UFC. Enrique Barzola has a sister. He never thought he would become a professional fighter, due to financial crisis for MMA Lessons.
Barzola received $2,500 at the UFC on Fox 21 where he was defeated by Kyle Bochniak. He earned $44,500 ($21,000 to show, $21,000 win bonus, $2,500 Reebok sponsorship) after defeating Gabriel Benitez at UFC 211.
In the UFC 220, Barzola received $42,000 ($21,000 show bonus + $21,000 win bonus) after defeating Matt Bessette ($12,000).
His career disclosed earning is reported to be around $65,000. However, his net worth of 2018 is under review.
Enrique Barzola was initially a wrestler but later transitioned from to mixed martial arts at the age of 22 as he used to often watch MMA videos of Cain Velasquez and Fedor Emelianenko on Youtube.
After a six months training in MMA gym, Barzloa revealed that he was ready for a fight in UFC. Once, he was taught by his gym mates, and four years later, he claimed the lightweight champion of UFC” The Ultimate Fighter; Latin America”.
In 2012, Barzola started his professional mixed martial arts career. His first professional match came on December 12, 2012, against Arturo Frias where he won via Submission(rear-naked choke).
He was then included in numerous tournament like 300 Sparta MMA 1, Inka FC 21, 300 Sparta MMA 2, Show Fighting Enterprise 2, Fusion Fighting Championship 9 and so on.
Barzola took his first step in The Ultimate Fighter Latin America 2 Finale where he faced to Horacio Gutierrez in the finals for The Ultimate Fighter: Latin America 2. He won the final match via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27).
Barzola then faced Kule Bochniak where he lost via split decision on August 2, 2016. After the match, he stated that he wasn’t happy with the judge's decision, everyone saw I won and I was more active and pressed all the time.
He won against Gabriel Benitez via unanimous decision at the UFC 211 on May 13, 2017. On January 20, 2018, he won via unanimous decision against Matt Bessette at the UFC 220.
Barzola was also on the list of the cast members for TV series, The Ultimate Fighter; Latin America 2, UFC The Ultimate Fighter with Efrain Escudero in April 2015.
Barzola is in a relationship with his beautiful girlfriend, but he hasn’t shared anything about his partner. He has uploaded pictures with his girlfriend on Facebook.
