Douglas Costa Bio and Early Career

Douglas Costa was born to mother, Marlene Costa de Souza, and father, Antonio Valmor de Souza on 14 September 1990 in Sapucaia do  Sul, Brazil. He has two younger sisters named Vitória and Amanda Costa and an older brother.

His father was a mechanic by profession and had a serious drinking habit.

The Brazilan midfielder started his playing career joining the Brazilain youth clubs of Novo Hamburgo and Gremio respectively.

Douglas Costa Professional Career

Douglas Costa began his senior career by joining the main team of Germio and made his debut as well as scoring his first goal for the Brazilian club against Botafogo on 4 October 2008.

Costa left Brazil and moved to Ukraine and signed a five-year contract deal with the Ukrainian football club, Shakhtar Donetsk for a transfer fee of €6 million in early January 2010. He played his first game for Shakhtar against Fulham on 18 February 2010 during UEFA Europa League and scored his first goal for the club against Metalist Kharkiv on 14 March 2010.

The Brazilan defender was the prominent player at Shakhtar as he was the part of the team that won Ukrainian Premier League, Ukrainian Cup as well as Super for several seasons.

He made 141 appearances for the Ukrainian club and scored 29 goals for the side.

After a successful stint with Shakhtar Donetsk, he signed a five-year contract with top German Bundesliga club, Bayern Munich for a reported transfer fee € 30 million. He made his Bundesliga debut against VfL Wolfsburg helping Arjen Robben to score a goal for Munich on 1 August 2015.

He recorded his first goal for Bayern Munich against Hamburger SV on 14 August and played a major role for the German club in winning the Bundesliga in 2015/16, 2016/17 as well as DFB Pokal in 2015/16.

Costa is played for Italian Serie A club, Juventus as a loan on 2017 for a transfer fee of €6 million and made his debut against Lazio on 13 August as well as the scoring first goal against the same opponent on 14 October.

On 7 June 2018, Juventus made his loan move permanent. 

Douglas Costa International Career

After representing Brazil in U20 FIFA World Cup in 2009 as well as winning South American Youth Championship in the same year, he made his international debut for the senior team against Turkey in 2014. He scored his first international goal for Brazil against Peru during Copa America 2015.

He was replaced by Kaka in the Brazilian team for the Copa America Centenario due to his injury in the final moment.

Douglas Costa along with striker Neymar is expected to play for Brazil at the 2018 FIFA World Cup which also includes the likes of Marcelo, Thiago Silva, and Philippe Coutinho etc.
