Douglas Costa Reveals the Reason behind Ronaldo's Real Madrid Exit Soccer

Cristiano Ronaldo joined Juventus from Real Madrid this summer with the transfer reported to be €105 million. Los Blancos were forced to let him go after he himself asked to lower his €1billion release clause. Juve will pay the wage of £500,000-a-week, making him the 2nd best-paid player after Lionel Messi despite aged 33 with the hope of winning the Champions League after 22 years.

Ronaldo's arrival in Turin has made Douglas Costa fight for his position in the team. However, the Brazilian winger has warmly welcomed the former Manchester United Ace and claimed that his arrival has boosted the team strength.

Costa revealed that his decision to move to Italy is to make an edge over his rival Messi as the pair has a strong competition. He further told that Ronaldo wants to prove himself in Serie A like he did in Premier League and La Liga while Messi has played his entire career only for Barcelona.

"I think Ronaldo was already at a high level but he really wanted to take another step to enhance his status. I think CR7 has everything to take us to the next level and do important things this season"

Costa told in an interview with  Italian Football TV

"Ronaldo is a really important player, but we also have [Paolo] Dybala and other important players. I've played with Neymar, so it's not totally new for me to play with someone at [Ronaldo's] level. Everyone has welcomed him and we know how much he can improve us. We can't hide it, it's clear."

Ronaldo is yet to make his debut with Juventus and will play his first match against Juventus B on August 12. His official match debut will be against Chievo in Serie A on August 18.
