Donald Arthur Mattingly is his birth name but he is known as Don Mattingly and through his baseball skills he owns the name The Hit Man. He is a former MLB player who has been the first batsman for New York Yankees and he is the former coach for the teams like New York Yankees and Los Angeles Dodgers. Later on, he was hired as manager by Miami Marlins and is still with the team.

He starts a restaurant business in 1990 and he used to have several franchises around the United States.

Don Mattingly also owns a non-profit organization whose name is Mattingly Charities. His Charity works in order to promote the participation of young children in baseball as well as through his charity program he provides baseball tools to the children who could not afford to have baseball kits.

Don Mattingly and Kim Sexton are long-time friends who started dating each other in 1976. They met on a bus ride to Madisonville, KY, for one of his American Legion games. She was a student at Evansville North High School, whereas Don Mattingly used to be a freshman of high school.

The couple lived together for almost 40 years in Evansville at first and as later on they moved to New York. Till that time everything was fine with Mattingly's family but when they moved to Los Angles, things started to gets worse. 

She filed for divorce on November 14, 2007, and their case was registered as irreconcilable differences in marriage life.

Don and Kim are the parents of four sons. Their son Taylor Mattingly is a former MLB player who retired in 2005 after playing 58 professional games. He initiated his professional career from New York Yankees and was drafted in the 42nd round (1,262nd overall) of the 2003 MLB draft.

Their other son Preston Mattingly is also a former player of MLB, who used to play for the Los Angeles Dodgers. He has also played from Cleveland Indians during 2010 and has also appeared in minor leagues for New York Yankees.

After getting separated from Kim, Don Mattingly has kept the custody of their sons and nowadays he and his new wife Lori and their newly born child are living happily together and quite often whole Mattingly family appeared on street with together and they frequently post their picture on social sites.

Don Mattingly is a son of Bill Mattingly and his mother is Mary Mattingly. He has three siblings whose names are Randy Mattingly, Jerry Mattingly, Michael Mattingly, and Judy Mattingly- his only sister.

Don Mattingly initiated his professional career from Reitz Memorial High School in Evansville, Indiana, and during that time he was picked up by the Yankees in the amateur 1982 draft and since then he never turns back.

Hit Man of MLB has made several appearances on reality shows also. He appeared firstly in an episode of The Simpson which was aired on February 20, 1990. He has also lent his voice on a song entitled The First Baseball Game which was based on the true story of on Christian recording artist Matt Felts album.

Later on, he appeared on a public announcement with his family and it was the campaign to encourage men, to make effort and contribute a vital role in their children's lives and it was a True Dad's campaign which was aired on the Spike TV network.
