Diego Forlan is an Uruguayan professional football player who is recently not linked with any club and is a free agent. The 38 years old professional won the Golden Ball as the best player at the 2010 World Cup. He is regarded as one of the greatest Uruguayan players of all time and has an estimated net worth of $28 million.

Early Life

Diego Forlan was born on 19 May 1979, in the capital city of Uruguay, Montevideo and his birth name is Diego Forlan Corazzo. His parents are Pablo Forlan and Pilar Corazo, his father Pablo Forlan is a former Uruguayan international professional. He has a sister named Alejandra Forlan. Forlan holds an Uruguayan nationality.

Club Career

Forlan began his professional footballing career with the Argentine club Independiente from 1997. He played for the club for five seasons where he scored 36 goals in 77 league games. He then switched to the England signing a contract with Manchester United under Sir Alex Ferguson on 22 January 2002. He made his professional premier league debut on 29 January 2002, in a 4–0 away win against Bolton Wanderers and his first premier league goal came on 26 October against Aston Villa. He was in the club for two years appearing in 63 games and scored 10 goals.

Forlan then moved to the Spanish side Villarreal on 21 August 2004 and made his debut for the club on 30 August 2004 starting against rivals Valencia and scored his club's goal in the 2–1 defeat. He scored his first hat-trick for the European club on 22 May 2005 in a 3–3 away draw against league champions Barcelona. He ended his career with the club winning 106 caps with the club and scoring 54 goals in 2007. 

Forlan then got transferred to Atletico Madrid on 30 June 2007 following the departure of their captain Fernando Torres to Liverpool. He ended his first season in Atletico with 23 goals and formed a potential partnership with Argentinian striker Sergio Aguero. He played four successive seasons with the club winning 134 caps and scored 74 goals.

He then joined the Brazilian club Internacional on 6 July 2012, he played 34 games for the club scoring ten goals and left the club on 2014. He was then linked with several clubs like Cerezo Osaka, Penarol, and Mumbai City. He is recently not linked with any clubs, staying as a free agent. Maximiliano Meza is also a soccer player who played for the Argentine Primera Division side Independiente.

International Career

Diego Forlan is indeed one of the best ever Uruguayan player. He made his professional debut for the Uruguayan National Team on 27 March 2002 against Saudi Arabia. He is currently the top scorer for his national side with 36 goals. He is the second all-time most-capped player for his national side with 112 caps. 

For his performance in the 2010 FIFA World Cup, he was honored with the Golden Ball. Forlan announced his retirement from the national team on 11 March 2015.

Diego Forlan is a married man. He got married to his lovely girlfriend Paz Cardoso on July 2, 2013. The couple together has a child; they welcomed their son Martín Forlán Cardoso in 2016. The couple is having their relationship since a decade ago.

Talking about his past relationship, he announced through Twitter on March 9, 2011, that he and Argentinian model and actress Zaira Nara were engaged and were to be married in June 2011. Later the couple stated that they were breaking their engagement and no reason was released for the breakup.
