Early Life

David Fizdale was born on June 16, 1974, in Los Angeles, California, to his mother, Helen Hamilton. As per his nationality, he is American and belongs to an African-American ethnic group. Further, his star sign is Gemini.

David Fizdale attended Fremont High School in Los Angeles, where he played as a point guard for his high school basketball team. After completing high school, he enrolled at the University of San Diego and graduated with B.A. in communication and a minor in sociology.

Professional Career

David Fizdale started his pro-NBA coaching career as an assistant coach for San Diego as an assistant coach from 1998 to 2002. Similarly, he also coaches Fresno State from 2002 to 2004 as an assistant.

In 2003, David Fizdale joined Golden State Warrior for a year to coach as an assistant. After that, he was appointed by Atlanta Hawks for four years till 2008 and then by Miami Heat until 2016 as an assistant coach.

During this, he helped LeBron and company to win two championships in 2012 and 2013. Furthermore, he coached “Team Shaq” at the Rising Stars Challenge during the NBA all-star Weekend in 2013 but got defeated.

On May 29, 2016, David signed a contract with Memphis Grizzlies as the head coach. His contract with the Grizzlies didn’t last long. Due to the eight consecutive losses and a publicized fourth-quarter benching of Marc Gasol, he was fired from the team on November 27, 2017.

Later, David joined New York Knicks on May 7, 2018, signing a four-year deal. Now he is coaching the players like Ron Baker, Lance Thomas, Joakim Noah, and so on.

During his first NBA postseason series as a head coach against the San Antonio Spurs, he went viral from the post-game rant about officiating, punctuated with the statement “take that for data.”
