Cristian Rodriguez was born on 30 September 1985, in Juan Lacaze, Uruguay and his full name is Cristian Gabriel Rodríguez Barotti. He received the nickname Cebolla (onion) from his father.
Cristian Rodriguez began his professional footballing career in 2002 joining the local C.A. Penarol in the Uruguayan first division, where he helped the side to the 2003 title.
