Connor Murphy is an American professional ice hockey player. He primarily plays the position of a defenceman and is currently in the Chicago Blackhawks roster of the National Hockey League. Murphy was selected as a representative for the 2011 IIHF World U18 Championship for the Team USA. In the 2013 IIHF World Junior Championship, he helped the U.S. win a gold medal. He was selected as the team captain for the 2017 IIHF World Championship where he led the team to a 5th-place finish.

Conor Murphy was born on March 26, 1993, in Boston, Massachusetts, the U.S. His parents are Gord Murphy and Nicole Murphy. His father is a former NHL defenseman himself and growing up, his father became the inspiration for Murphy to chose hockey. He has two siblings; a brother named Tyler and a sister named Lexi. He grew up in the suburbs of Miami and Atlanta until his family finally settled down in Dublin, Ohio.

Murphy played junior hockey with teams such as Ohio AAA Blue Jackets and Ontario Hockey League. He has also played for the USA National Team Development Program.

Connor Murphy's Career

Conor Murphy's name was entered in the 2011 NFL Entry Draft where he was picked by the Arizona Coyotes in the 20th overall. His debut with the team came on November 16, 2013, when his team was put up against Tampa Bay Lightning. on the very first match of his professional career, he scored his first NHL score against the goalie Anders Lindback.

Murphy consistently showed his worth in the team and on July 28, 2016, he was signed to a six-year, $23.1 million contracts with the Coyotes. Murphy played for four seasons with the Coyotes. The Coyotes traded Murphy to the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for Niklas Hjalmarsson on June 23, 2017. At present, he continues to play for the Chicago Blackhawks.
