Cody Garbrandt Tested Positive for COVID-19; UFC 255 Flyweight title fight in Jeopardy MMA

The Flyweight title bout between Cody Garbrandt and champion Deiveson Figueiredo is at risk after the former UFC bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt tested positive for coronavirus.

Brazilian outlet AG Fight first reported the news and revealed that No Love is doing well despite having some headache. Garbrandt still has time to recover as the fight is more than two months far, which is scheduled for November 21, 2020. However, he has suffered a minor setback that could impede his preparation for a few days.

Cody will make his flyweight debut against 125-pound kingpin Deiveson Figueiredo at UFC 255, dropping down from the bantamweight division. Earlier, he held the bantamweight title. He last defeated Raphael Assunção at UFC 250 and won for the first time since 2016 after thee consecutive losses.

Deiveson, on the other hand, defeated Joseph Benavidez and won the vacant flyweight title at Fight Island.

The flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo was also infected with the positive two months ahead of his Fight Island clash against Joseph Benavidez. However, he recovered, made weight, and went on to win the title in the first round.
