This is her second marriage. She had her first at the age of 25 and is the mother of two children.  She called her first marriage a childish act and later got divorced from him. She has never talked about her parents and siblings. From a tender age, Thompson knew she wanted to be a broadcaster. She enrolled at Inglemoor High School in Kenmore, Washington.
