Early Life 

Celso Otero was born on February 1, 1959, in Montevideo, Uruguay and his full name is Celso Otero Quintas. His parents are Manuel Otero and Josefa Otero. He holds Uruguayan nationality.

Football Career

Celso Otero began his footballing career with Club Nacional de Football in 1978. In 2 years career with the club, he appeared in 21 games and then switched to Uruguayan top league club, Racing Club de Montevideo in 1980 and where he stayed for a year and played 11 games.

He then moved to Peruvian side Alto Perú in 1981. After a season with the club, he again moved to Montevideo Wanderers F.C in 1982 and established himself as the regular starter for the club. He stayed in the club for 6 years winning 176 caps.

At the end of his footballing career, he further joined Rentistas in 1989 and announced his retirement from the professional career in 1991 after playing for 2 years with the club.

He made his professional international debut on on August 7, 1988, in a friendly against Colombia and is the only cap he won for is national side.

Celso Otero is married to Sonia Blanco since more than three decades. They were married on February 4, 1983, and has a daughter together. Their daughter's name is Natalie Ortero.
