Brandon Doughty is an American football quarterback who is currently a free agent. Though he was picked by the Miami Dolphins in the 2016 NFL draft but has not played any official matches in the NFL.

 

Doughty is most popular for his collegiate football where he played for Western Kentucky. He was the starting quarterback of Kentucky from 2013 to 2015. He has yet to play in the regular season of NFL.

Brandon Doughty Early Life

Brandon Doughty was born on October 6, 1991, in Davie, Florida. He attended North Broward Preparatory school in Coconut Creek, Florida. During his high school year, Doughty played for the football team where he was selected as a starting quarterback. He passed for 2,885 yards with 23 touchdowns and 12 interceptions during his high school year. He was named the FACA North-South All-Star, a Dade-Broward All-Star and the First-Team All-Broward County by the Miami Herald.

Brandon Doughty Football Career

Brandon Doughty joined Western Kentucky University for the 2010 recruiting class even though he had originally committed to Florida Atlantic. He did not join the 2010 season and redshirted the year.

In the following year of 2011, Brandon Doughty made his college football debut in a 40-14 loss to Navy. Despite the loss, Doughty had proved his worth with 12 of 21 passes completed for 102 yards and an interception which earned him a position in the starting roster. however, after three plays, he suffered a knee injury which kept him out of play for the entirety of his freshman season.

Doughty only played two game appearances as a relief quarterback in the 2012 season. He gained his starting position for the 2013 season and performed well. He ended the season with 246 of 374 attempts, 14 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions.

In 2014, Brandon Doughty was named Conference USA's Most Valuable Player and became the winner of the 2014 Sammy Baugh Trophy, becoming the first Hilltopper and the third quarterback from conference to achieve it. He ended the season with 375 of 552 passing attempts, 39 touchdowns, and only ten interceptions. His quarterback rating by the end of the season was 167.1.

The 2015 season, Doughty set multiple records which include most yards in a single season and most touchdowns thrown in a two-year span in NCAA history. He finished his collegiate football career in the top 25 in NCAA history for career passing yards, passing touchdowns, and completion percentage.

Brand Doughty was drafted in the 2016 NFL Draft and was the 223rd pick of the Miami Dolphins. On September 14, 2016, he was released by the Dolphins and was signed to the team's practice squad on September 16. He signed a reserve/future contract with the Dolphins on January 10, 2017. He was waived by the Dolphins on April 4, 2018.

Doughty was claimed off waivers by the Arizona Cardinals on April 5, 2018, and was waived by the team on May 7, 2018.

Brandon Doughty is a married man. He married his college girlfriend Sydney Sisler who played for the WKU soccer club. The two got married in 2016 and have been together as a spouse ever since. The details of their love affairs have not been disclosed. The couple has not had any children to date.
