Brad Katona was born on December 19, 1991, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Katona started training in martial arts at the age of five practicing in a small Karate school in his hometown. He earned his black belt in 2007. He defeated Wesley Bowman in his amateur fight with a Rear Naked Choke.
Brad Katona made his professional career debut in mixed martial arts in 2014. His debut match was against Micahel Hay on October 03, 2014 at MFC 41. He won against Hay via a TKO in round one.
Katona faced Myles Anderson and Josh Rich at Prestige FC 1 and Prestige FC 2 respectively. He won his match against Anderson with a Guillotine Choke and against Rich with a unanimous decision from the judges.
Brad Katona also fought at Havoc FC 11 facing Patrick Ward on December 02, 2016. The bout went the full length and was won by Katona via unanimous decision. He faced Austin Ryan at XFFC 13 on February 03, 2017 and won with a Rear Naked Choke in round 3.
On July 06, 2018, Brad Katona fought against Jay Cucciniello at the Ultimate Fighter 27 Finale. He was declared the winner of the fight with the unanimous decision from the judges. With the victory, Katona has an undefeated record since his professional debut with 7 wins and 0 loss.
Katona is scheduled to make his UFC debut at UFC 231 on December 08, 2018. His opponent at the match will be Matthew Lopez.
Brad Katona is currently in a relationship. His girlfriend is Katie Saul who, like him, is also an MMA fighter. As Katona is trying to make it in MMA, Saull is also giving it her all to make it in the world of WMMA. She currently fights for the King of The Cage promotion. As the couple is in a similar field, they are able to understand what the other is going through which has helped them to make their relationship keep going stronger.
Brad Katona has had a dominant career as an MMA fighter but has yet to catch the media attention like the giants of UFC such as Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov. He has yet to have the main event to highlight his career like the other fighters. Being a relatively unknown fighter, his fight wins do not compare to them but he has reportedly made $30,000 through the various fights he has been through.
