His parents were Gloria Anne and William Theodore. He attended Helix High School and further graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles. He also has a brother named Bruce Walton who is a former professional American football offensive lineman in the National Football League for the Dallas Cowboys.

Professional Life of Bill Walton

Bill Walton started his basketball career in the fourth grade at Blessed Sacrament Elementary School with coach Frank "Rocky" Graciano and also played for his college at the University of California and Los Angeles. He also won the national title there. Talking about his NBA career, he has played for several NBA teams such as Portland Trail Blazers, San Diego Clippers, and Boston Celtics. 

Walton was picked 1st overall by Trail Blazers in the 1974 NBA Draft and also won the NBA title in 1977. He was chosen as the Finals MVP that season. He then moved to San Diego / Los Angeles Clippers in 1979 and played for 6 years.

Walton joined Boston Celtics in 1985. Walton played a career-high 80 games and received the NBA Sixth Man Award that season en route to the NBA Championship along with Larry Bird in 1986.

However, he also had to suffer from severe problems. His ankle problem made him quit the game in 1987. After, his retirement he didn’t stop himself and served as a sportscaster for his team.  After his retirement from NBA, he further became a successful and controversial NBA color commentator for NBC. He termed Michael Jordan average while in the commentary, which created a lot of controversies.
