Argentina 'Not Using' Messi's No. 10 Jersey in Friendly Matches; Sergio Romero 'Not Happy' with the Decision Soccer

Argentina have agreed not use Lionel Messi's no. 10 in friendly matches against Guatemala and Colombia during his absence. Interim boss Lionel Scaloni and the Argentinian FA agreed to a decision and revealed that the jersey will be held back.

Messi has not been included in Scaloni squad as he has decided to step back from the international matches until he makes another announcement.

Some of the Argentine teammates have expressed their disappointment with the decision.

Manchester United stopper and Argentine team GK Sergio Romero revealed that he is confused with the decision and is unaware about the plans of Scaloni and the Argentinian FA.

"The No.10 jersey has always been used. I don't understand why it's not being used now. I haven't asked. I haven't inquired. I had no idea that it wasn't going to be used."

"In all the friendlies, it has always been available. Probably, for some reason, it will not be used now. I just found out."

Romero said while talking to TyC Sports.

"If Leo returns, it's normal that he is the owner of the No.10 and the captain's armband - no-one on the inside or outside has any doubt about that."

"But if it's a number that is available for a friendly and Leo is not here, then anyone can use it. We already know that if he is here, it will be his, so then there's no problem."

He added.
