Anna Gasser was born on August 16, 1991, in Villach, Austria. Gasser holds an Austrian nationality and belongs to white ethnicity.

Anna Gasser is the daughter of Peter Gasser and Liesbeth Gasser. She has a brother and a sister. She was a member of Austria's national gymnastics team but gave up due to lack of time. She got interested in snowboarding at the age of 17 after her cousin showed some of the videos of that sport.

Anna Gasser’s Career

Gasser was a former Gymnast and competed with Austria’s national Gymnastic team until she was 14-year-old and the time commitment became too much. Later, she developed an interest in snowboarding but didn’t start competing until she was 18.

Gasser started to compete in snowboarding in 2010. She then held 18th position at FIS Snowboarding World Championships 2013.

Gasser became the first female snowboard to perform a Cab Double Cork 900 kicker, a double salto backward with a half-turn in November 2013.

During his 2017 season, Gasser notched three X Games medals- gold, silver, and bronze – as well as World Snowboard Tour season titles, one for slopestyle and one for big air and captured a FIS World Cup title for big air.

In February 2018, Anna listed herself in the Olympic Snowboarding Women’s slopestyle with points 46.56. On the list, Jamie Anderson was in the first position with points 83.00 while Laurie Blouin and Enni Rukajarvi were on rank 2nd and 3rd with the points 76.33 and 75.38 respectively. Additionally, Silje Norendal, who is from Norway, was in 4th position with 73.91 points.

2014 Winter Olympics

Anna Gasser was qualified for the 2014 Winter Olympics and made her Olympic debut at the 2014 Games, Sochi, where she claimed the first position in the slopestyle qualifying events and earned an automatic berth to the finals.

Gasser became the first woman to ever win more than one gold medal in Olympic snowboarding.
