Aleksei Alekseyevich Oliynyk or famously known as Aleksei Oleinik is a Ukrainian-born Russian Mixed Martial Arts who also specializes in Jujutsu, sambo, and grappling techniques and currently competing in the American MMA promotion, Ultimate Fighting Championship.

He is an MMA veteran and has competed in the various MMA promotions Bellator, BodogFight, YAMMA Pit Fighting, and Bellator MMA. He is the only fighter in history to win a bout via Ezekiel Chokehold. Oleinik is currently the record holder for most Ezekiel chokeholds with ten wins.

Aleksei Oleinik is of Ukrainian nationality. He was born on June 25, 1977, in Kharkiv, Ukrainian SSR, Soviet Union, now known as Ukraine.

Apart from MMA, he is also an accomplished grappler and trained under K Dojo Warrior Tribe in 2011 and was successful in winning the Absolute division as well as the Men’s black belt No-Gi Advanced Super weight division in the  Beast of the East  2011 tournament.

After fighting for several Russian MMA promotions, he moved to the United States of America and joined the American MMA promotion, Bellator  MMA, in 2010.

He later signed with another American MMA promotion, Ultimate Fighting Championship, in November 2013 and was expected to take on Jared Rosholt on UFC on Fox 10, which took place on January 25, 2014. But did not compete due to injury and fought against Anthony Hamilton at UFC event UFC Fight Night: Swansea vs. Stephens on June 28, 2014.

Later, he competed against Jared Rosholt at UFC Fight Night 57 on November 22, 2014, and won through a knockout in the first round and earned his maiden Performance of the Night award bonus in the same match.

Oleinik faced Viktor Pesta at UFC Fight Night 103 and created by becoming the UFC combatant to win via Ezekiel chokehold and was given the Performance of the Night bonus award.

He defeated Junior Albini at UFC 224 on May 12, 2018, and later faced Mark Hunt, who he submitted in the first round. He then faced losses against Alistair Overeem and Walt Harris in 2019. Most recently, he defeated Maurice Greene at UFC 246 on January 18, 2020, via submission, which is the 46th submission of his career.
