Ahmad Rashad is an American former footballer and a sportscaster who was born on November 19, 1949, in Portland, Oregon. His birth name was Robert Earl Moore Jr. he was the fourth overall selection of the 1972 NFL Draft which was taken by the St. Louis Cardinals.

He is the son of Condola Moore (his mother) and Robert Earl Moore (his father). He has a brother, Denis Moore who has focused his career on helping companies like Procter & Gamble, Oracle, SAP, Microsoft, etc. to innovate through technology.

Early Life and Profesional Career

He has played high school football in Tacoma, Washington, and graduated from Mount Tahoma High school. He accepted an athletic scholarship to the University of Oregon in Eugene. He has also played football for the ducks under the coaching of Jerry Frei who is a footballer and the head coach of the University of Oregon and became a member of Omega Psi Phi fraternity.

He has played as a wide receiver and was then moved to running back during his second year where he was a 1971 All-American. He was titled as the college hall of fame on May 9, 2007. He was the fourth player selected by St. Louis Cardinals in the 1972 NFL Draft and made the UPI all-rookie team in 1972.

Rashad caught 495 passes for 6,831 yards and 44 touchdowns and also rushed for 52 yards during his pro football career. He had the standout catch of his career in a December 1980 game which was against the Cleveland browns. He covered NFL, NBA, MLB televised contests as a studio anchor and game reporter for NBC and ABC. He has hosted NBA inside Stuff for 16 seasons and also hosted the video-clip show Real TV, the reality shows Celebrity Mole, the game show Caesars Challenge and NBA Access with Ahmad Rashad.
