CC Sabathia is a professional athlete who currently plays as a baseball pitcher for the New York Yankees of the major league baseball. He started his professional baseball career with Cleveland Indians in 2001 and stayed with the team until 2008. Prior to 2009 seasons, he was the highest paid pitcher in the history of MLB.

Early Life & High School Career

Sabathia was born on July 21, 1980, in Vallejo, California. He was born to parents Margie and CC Sabathia Sr.

Sabathia attended Vallejo High School, where he lettered in several sports. He was very good at football as well as a basketball player.

In baseball, Sabathia amassed a win-loss record of 6-0 with a 0.77 earned run average (ERA) with 14 hits and 82 strikeouts during his junior career.

In the game of football, he was an all-conference tight end. He had an opportunity to play football at UCLA.

Professional Career

Sabathia was drafted in the first round (20th overall) by the Indians in the 1998 MLB Draft. He signed for a $1.3 million bonus.

In 2000, he was called up by the Cleveland Indians. In 2001, he became the youngest player in the major league.

On February 23, 2002, Sabathia agreed to a four-year deal worth $9.5 million with the Indians.

Sabathia stayed with Indians until 2008. On July 7, 2008, the Milwaukee Brewers in exchange for Matt LaPorta, Michael Brantley, Zach Jackson picked Sabathia.

On December 18, 2008, Sabathia signed the most profitable contract in baseball history, when he inked a seven year, $175 million deal with the New York Yankees.

Numerous awards have honored Sabathia for his professional accomplishments. He was the winner of AL Cy Young Award as well as ALCS MVP award.

Personal Life & Affair

Sabathia met his wife Amber Sabathia, while they attended Vallejo High School. They celebrated their wedding on June 9, 2003. That same year, Amber gave birth to their son Carsten Charles III.

In 2005, the lovely couple welcomed their daughter Jaeden Arie, their third child and second daughter Cyia was born in 2008. Their youngest child named Carter born in 2010.

Amber is a San Francisco University graduate. She also runs a foundation along with husband called “PitCCh In.”

The organization helps inner city kids graduate from high school and raise awareness through educational and athletic activities. In 2014, the foundation supported a team of runners in the 2014 New York City Marathon.

Currently, he resides with his family in Alpine, New Jersey.

He is very close with his former team players Prince Fielder and Cliff Lee. He is a fan of Oakland Raiders. He supports Crutches4Kids.
