Aleksandr Golovin is a Russian football player who plays as a midfielder for Russian National Team and Russian professional club CSKA Moscow. He started his youth career with DYuSSh Kaltan and has played professionally for only CSKA Moscow since 2014.

Golovin is named one of the prominent players of the Russian National Team coached by Stanislav Cherchesov for the FIFA World Cup 2018.

Aleksandr Golovin was born as Aleksandr Sergeyevich Golovin on 30 May 1996 (age 22) in Kaltan, Russia. His father is a miner and mother an accountant. His father admitted him to his friend's sports school at the age of 6 where his football journey began.

Golovin dreamt of playing for Russian National Team since his childhood.

Professional Career of Aleksandr Golovin

The Russian Midfielder started his youth career with DYuSSh Kaltan in 2001 at the young age of 5. He remained in the academy for 8 years until 2009 and joined Metallurg Novokuznetsk's youth team. He played there for 2 years and moved to CSKA Moscow in 2012.

After 2 years in the youth academy, Golovin was promoted to the senior squad in 2014. He made his senior team debut against FC Mordovia Saransk on March 14, 2015. Golovin extended his contract with the club at the end of 2016 season which will keep him in the club until the end of 2020 season.

Talking about his international career, he has so far earned 21 caps with the senior team scoring 3 goals. Previously, he represented Russia in various youth levels having played his first match with the u-17 in 2013.

Golovin was included in Russia's 23-man squad for the FIFA World Cup 2018 and made his world cup debut against Serbia on June 14, 2018. He scored a beautiful free-kick goal in the injury time which saw his team win by 5-0. He also made 2 more assists in the match.
