Lewis was born on July 4th, 1988 in Boston, United States of America. Lewis was interested in playing squash from very early age. His father: Michael M Lewis was his source of inspiration and his main tutor/coach as his father helped him to indulge the sports.

Lewis was a hardworking and determined kid from his childhood.  He started participating in local squash tournaments from his teen age. Not only squash, but Michael Lewis was also interested in tennis. He attended Santa Barbara High School for his high school education. During his time at Santa Barbara High School he was involved in squash and tennis as well, as both sports were as part of his interest. He sharpened his skills in squash and tennis during his time at Santa Barbara for 4 years. He was among the brightest student on both of the sports. A proof of that is; he captained his squash team for all four years and his tennis team in his senior years. He was very much praised for his leadership qualities by his coaches and colleagues there. Lewis won the USSRA Scholar-Athlete Award in his both junior and senior years and he also got opportunity to participate in student government in his freshman and sophomore years. In his freshman year, Lewis was 9-8 on the season with the record of 5-6 on number 4. In 2008-2009 during his sophomore year, he went 10-9 for the season.
