Aqib Talib is an American football cornerback for the Denver Broncos of the National Football League (NFL). He was born on February 13, 1986, in Ohio State, Cleveland. Aqib is an American and belongs to black ethnicity. His position for playing is at cornerback. He grew up with three older siblings, including a sister Sarah. He was born to his father Theodore Henry and his mother Okolo Talib.
Early Life And Career
Aqib Talib was born in Cleveland, Ohio to Theodore and Donna Henry. Donna had converted to Islam and gave her four children all Muslim names: Saran, Kai, Yaqub, and Aqib. And Aqib means “the last one” in Arabic and he was named so because he was the youngest of the four children. Aqib parents got divorced in his young age and he moved with his mother to Texas to start the eighth grade.
He then attended Berkner High School in Richardson, Texas and lettered in football basketball, and track. He was named Defensive back in his high school and in his senior year, he was rated 2 stars by Rivals.com. Talib attended the University of Kansas, where he played for the Kansas Jayhawks football team from 2005 to 2007.
Personal Life
Aqib is the youngest of four children. Aqib’s mother Donna Henry converted to Islam when he was young, and his first name means “The last one” in Arabic while his last name means “The student.” He is married to Gypsy Benitez and the couple has three young children. He has had several run-ins with the law. In 2009 he was arrested for assaulting a taxi driver in Florida, while in 2011 he was arrested in Texas for firing a gun at his sister’s boyfriend, but the charges were later dropped.
Benitez and Aqib reportedly started dating in 2011. But Aqib had a girlfriend before Benitez whose name was Courtney Jacobs and she gave birth to a girl named Kiara, the couple’s only child. And after the end of their affair, Benitez allegedly became close to her boyfriend’s four-year-old daughter at the time.
